Chevening Scholarships are the UK government's premier global awards for aspiring leaders. Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partners, they support outstanding individuals to undertake fully funded one-year Master's degrees at UK universities paired with leadership development and lifelong networking opportunities.

Funding

Chevening scholarships include comprehensive financial support:

  • Full tuition fees

  • Monthly living stipend (differentiated for London/non-London)

  • Round-trip economy airfare and visa costs

  • Arrival/departure allowances and potential travel grants for Chevening events in the UK

  • Typically includes TB testing if required.



Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (excluding British or dual UK citizens unless specified exceptions apply)

  • Hold an undergraduate degree (equivalent to a UK 2:1)

  • Have at least 2 years (2,800 hours) of work experience post-graduation (including voluntary/internship roles)

  • Apply to three eligible UK master’s programs and secure at least one unconditional offer by the July 2026 deadline

  • Commit to returning to their home country for a minimum of two years after the scholarship ends

Application Process

  1. Online Application: Complete the Chevening application via the official portal during the open window (5 Aug to 7 Oct 2025)

  2. Review Phase: Applications are vetted from mid-October 2025 by independent committees

  3. Interview Invitations: Issued mid-February 2026; interviews take place March–April at British embassies or high commissions

  4. Results Announced: From mid-June 2026 onward

  5. Unconditional Offer Submission: Must upload at least one offer from a UK university by 9 July 2026 (17:00 BST)

  6. Begin Studies: Scholars begin their Master’s programmes in September/October 2026
