The FASPE Medical Fellowship is part of the FASPE (Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics) programme. It is an intensive two-week summer fellowship focused on professional ethics and ethical leadership for medical students and residents. Fellows study historical examples, especially the role of German physicians during the Nazi era and connect them to contemporary ethical challenges in medicine (resource allocation, research ethics, end-of-life issues, etc.).

Location (country/city)

  • The fellowship takes place in Germany and Poland. Specifically, seminar sites include Berlin, Krakow, and Oswiecim (site of the former Auschwitz extermination camp).

  • The travel for the Fellows begins from their place of origin to the program’s meeting point in Europe.

Funding

  • Fully funded: all program costs are covered. This includes transportation (round-trip airfare or equivalent travel costs), lodging, meals (group meals plus lodging), program materials, group travel & site visits.
  • Fellows also receive a “pocket money” allowance for non-group meals and incidental costs.
